  • Discoloration and stubborn staining
  • Small chips and cracks
  • Underdeveloped or misshapen teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Misaligned teeth

During a consultation, you will undergo an examination to determine whether porcelain veneers are an appropriate method of addressing your unique concerns. Also during your consultation, you will learn more about the cost of porcelain veneers and the different financing options available to you.

THE PROCEDURE: WHAT TO EXPECT

Porcelain veneers are thin, ceramic shells that cover the front surface of the tooth. The entire procedure, touted as a type of “instant orthodontics,” can be completed in just two appointments.

During your first visit, an analysis will be conducted to guide the creation of your veneers. Our veneers are custom crafted by experienced dental technicians to closely match the appearance of your surrounding teeth. This ensures that they will be extremely natural looking and will blend seamlessly into your smile. Your teeth will also be prepared for the placement of the veneers at this time. In order to ensure the veneers are aligned with untreated teeth, a thin layer of enamel will be removed from your teeth. Next, we will take an impression of the teeth, which will be sent to our offsite laboratory. Afterwards, you will receive temporary veneers, which will remain in place until your next appointment.

During a second visit, your customized veneers will be permanently bonded to your teeth. After the veneers have been placed, our doctors are able to make adjustments until they have achieved the desired results. You will emerge from our office with a stunning new smile.

Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

In short, porcelain veneers allow patients to improve the color, shape, and size of the teeth while concealing cosmetic imperfections and correcting the appearance of crooked or misaligned teeth. This treatment has many benefits and few risks.

Porcelain veneers:

  • Provide speedy aesthetic enhancement, typically within two dental appointments.
  • Can be customized to correct each patient’s unique cosmetic imperfections.
  • Closely mimic the appearance of natural teeth. Porcelain is translucent and does not reflect light unnaturally, or look opaque and artificial.
  • Do not require any special care; they can be cleaned and treated just like your natural teeth.
  • Provide strong, durable enhancement that can last for years.

Porcelain veneers may also be combined with other cosmetic treatments to further enhance your smile.

Determining Porcelain Veneers Candidates

We can help determine if you’re a candidate for porcelain veneers during your consultation.

The Porcelain Veneer, often called a Dental Veneer or Tooth Veneer, when done perfectly is beautiful and long lasting. But, are they for you? That is the question many patients ask us. They ask us what is the difference between a Veneer and a Lumineer? A Veneer and a Crown or Cap? Does a Veneer require a lot of drilling? Should the teeth be whitened first? How long will veneers last? Can I see some before and after cases?

At 4Excellence In Dentistry, Levittown NY, our Cosmetic Dentistry is done by one of the top Cosmetic Dentists on Long Island. He prides himself on making his Veneers both beautiful and affordable. A special “Thank You” to the many Cosmetic Dentistry patients that have been kind enough to give us outstanding “Reviews and Ratings”. But… lets talk about Porcelain Veneers and see if they are for you.

What is a Dental Veneer or Tooth Veneer?
original_inline-veneer-contact-lens

Veneers (often called a Dental Veneer or Veneers) are actually very thin pieces of durable porcelain that are bonded to the front of teeth. They are similar in design to a contact lens. They are probably the most beautiful restoration in all of Dentistry.

What is the Most Beautiful Veneer?

original_inline-great-smile
In our opinion, the most beautiful Porcelain Veneer is hand done in layers, custom colored and shaped by a Dental Ceramist. Less expensive Veneers are done from a block of porcelain and made by a machine. There is a big difference. In our office we recommend layered veneers to allow for individual coloration just like the look of natural teeth. Layered veneers cost a little more than machine made veneers, but they are worth every penny.

What is the Difference Between a Veneer and a Lumineer?

“Lumineers” are actually a version of a Veneer. They are made by one company who was the first to pioneer ultra thin Veneers. Since their inception several other companies have copied them including “Vivaneers.” They are best when there is a space between your teeth since there is little or NO drilling of the teeth. Most often regular veneers can look better and more natural. That is where the experience of the Cosmetic Dentist comes in who has done many cases of both.

When Should I Have a Porcelain Crown or Cap Instead of a Veneer?
porcelain-cap-or-crown-4-excellence-in-dentistry

There are times when extra strength is needed and an all Porcelain Cap or Crow might work better:

  1. Root canaled teeth
  2. If a patient is a severe grinder
  3. Cases where the persons bite is “edge to edge”
  4. Teeth may be lost and need to be joined together for strength

Almost every case is different. Your dentist should guide you what’s best for you, and show you your options. Honesty and trust is something WE never compromise!

Does a Veneer Require a Lot of Drilling? Do I Need Novocaine?

Most often there is little drilling. Sometimes NO drilling. If there are crowded teeth, decayed teeth, or teeth that may need some shaping, the dentist may recommend some gentle drilling so that the results are both beautiful and durable. A little novocaine may be required for painless treatment and a great result.

Should I Whiten My Teeth First? Do I Need a Night-guard to Protect My Veneers?

Most people do upper front Veneers first. Often that is enough. But they do want the bottom to match the top. At 4Excellence in Dentistry we include Tooth Whitening with all our cases. People love a beautiful smile with whiter teeth. Why not make the bottom closer to the color or your upper Veneers. Don’t think about it, we include whitening at NO CHARGE. A Dental Nightguard may be helpful in protecting your Veneers, especially if you clench or grind your teeth at night. It’s like an insurance policy on your Veneers. ONCE again, not to worry, it’s included at NO CHARGE.

Determining the Cost of Porcelain Veneers

Many of our patients who felt self-conscious about minor dental imperfections have achieved the dazzling smiles they always wanted with porcelain veneers. Custom-crafted to look natural among existing teeth, porcelain veneers are an excellent way to conceal chips, cracks, intrinsic stains, slight misalignment, and more. If you are considering this treatment, you may be wondering about the cost of porcelain veneers, and our Levittown dental professionals are here to help. No two treatments are the same, so prices vary from one patient to another. The primary factors influencing the cost of treatment are the number of veneers being placed, and any complementary treatments, such as teeth whitening or gum reshaping, that the patient chooses.

We find time and again that many patients consider the procedure to be an excellent investment once they experience the enhancements porcelain veneers can create. It is also important to consider that because veneers can address several cosmetic issues at once, they can actually be quite cost effective. To learn more about porcelain veneers, and to acquire your treatment estimate, schedule a consultation today.

Placing Porcelain Veneers

Before receiving your veneers, you will have a thorough consultation with one of our cosmetic dentists. After determining your candidacy for the procedure, your dentist will remove a very thin layer of enamel from the front of your teeth. Next, the dentist will take impressions of your teeth to send to a dental laboratory. Based on these impressions, experienced ceramists will create thin shells of porcelain that are specially designed to match the shape and color of your natural teeth. In about two weeks, when the veneers are complete, you will return to our office. We will then attach the veneers to your teeth using dental cement. After making any necessary adjustments, you can leave our office with your beautifully enhanced smile.

Effective Treatment for Many Cosmetic Issues

Porcelain veneers have a diverse range of applications. If you have a number of cosmetic issues that you wish to correct, veneers may prove to be the most cost effective option. Veneers can conceal:

  • Intrinsic stains
  • Chips, cracks, and other surface flaws that do not threaten dental health
  • Worn teeth or teeth, or teeth that are irregularly shaped
  • Minor orthodontic issues such as gaps between teeth or slightly crooked teeth

An Investment in Your Confidence and Satisfaction

When you feel confident in your appearance, it shows. Those who feel good about the appearance of their teeth and gums are more willing to smile, and are generally more outgoing. If you feel self-conscious about your smile, veneers can be an excellent investment in your quality of life. The increased confidence they provide can help you achieve greater satisfaction in your personal and professional life. We offer financing options to help place the cost of veneers within your budget.

The Veneers Procedure

Before your veneers are bonded in place, your cosmetic dentist will first remove a very thin layer of enamel from the front of your teeth. Next, impressions of your teeth will be taken so that the ceramists at an offsite lab can create veneers that blend with your natural teeth and smile. When your veneers are ready, you will return for a second appointment. Your dentist will lightly etch your teeth, and then attach the veneers with dental cement. After your veneers have been placed, you can leave the office with a dramatically improved smile.

The Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

There are many reasons why veneers have become so popular in the last several decades:

Appearance: Because your veneers will be personalized to your specifications, they will be highly lifelike. Additionally, modern dental porcelain interacts with light like natural dental enamel, giving your veneers a beautiful sheen.

Multiple Uses: Veneers can correct multiple cosmetic issues in a single treatment. They can cover up dark intrinsic stains, improve the shape of small or irregularly shaped teeth, close gaps in your smile, and conceal misalignment, among other uses.

Ease of Application: Our dentists can typically complete the veneers process in just two short office visits.

Convenience: To protect your porcelain veneers, you will simply have to maintain good oral hygiene and attend regular appointments with your dentist. Although porcelain does not stain, the bonding material is subject to discoloration, so you should avoid smoking and enjoy dark-colored foods and drinks in moderation.

Durability: With proper home care, veneers can last 10 years or more.

Confidence Boosting: Your brighter, more uniform smile can greatly improve your self-confidence. As you smile more, you may even enjoy greater social and professional success.

The Risks of Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers carry very few risks. However, if inexperienced dentists place veneers, veneers can appear bulky and unnatural. Thanks to our dentists’ extensive knowledge and experience, at 4Excellence in Dentistry, you can enjoy incredibly realistic results.

You should be aware that because your dentist must remove some of your dental enamel, veneers are a permanent procedure. In the rare event that a veneer becomes loose or falls off, your dentist will need to replace it.

Finally, although veneers have a higher upfront cost than some other cosmetic dentistry procedures, veneers can achieve the results of multiple cosmetic treatments, making them an economical choice overall. Many patients enjoy veneers as a simple, but important investment in their smiles.
